Northwest Center for Play Therapy Studies
If your passion relates to tending to the developmental needs of children, the university’s Graduate School of Counseling invites you to consider the Northwest Center for Play Therapy Studies (NWCPTS), home of promoting the healthy development and welfare of children and families through the process of play and filial therapy.
We are the largest university-based center focused on the study and promotion of play therapy in the Northwest and the only play therapy training center in Oregon approved by the Association for Play Therapy (APT).
As a student in our counseling degree programs, you can focus on play therapy training by incorporating graduate-level play therapy coursework into your degree program plan. The play therapy courses offered through the NWCPTS can help students who go on to pursue their play therapy credentials meet APT training requirements now while earning their master’s degree.
Training for Clinical Internship Supervisors
In addition to the training we provide students through our degree and certificate programs, the Graduate School of Counseling provides continuing education opportunities for mental health practitioners needing supervision training.
Clinical supervisors of LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) and LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist) interns are required to complete a supervision training course before providing supervision services to registered interns in the state of Oregon.
