Introduction to Archives and Research

A 30-50 minute session introducing archives and their use for research. This class is intended to teach students the purpose of archives, their value for research, and walk them through the sometimes complicated steps to using an archives. This session is designed to reduce barriers and make research in an archival setting more approachable.

Primary Source Literacy

Originally designed for history classes, this introduction to primary sources and their use in research is valuable for many disciplines. The archivist can introduce types of sources, show physical examples from the archives, and explain how to approach these sources to enhance their value for learning. Students are challenged to think beyond the page to explore the depths of primary source material.

Topical Instruction

The Archivist can develop class sessions on many topics supported by archival materials. Classes can be developed to support the curriculum of your course and can include teaching/lectures, reference instruction, or simply offer students a chance to examine archival materials related to your topic. Please do not hesitate to ask about an idea.
